I am the author of a historical novel and picture book fables. I come to writing as a member of a strong family, a teacher and curious learner, and an active contributor to communities both small and large, local and broad. That is, like everyone, I am a unique person with myriad identifications; my feet  are simultaneously planted in many places of the Venn diagram of life. It is because of my talents and life skills and experiences that I feel compelled to write, to pass on what I have learned.

I hope you find that my stories engage you, tap your sensibilities, and provoke your consideration of others. The goal of my writing is to promote tikkun olam, that is Hebrew for repairing the world. Like the two main characters of my historical novel, Matilda and Grover, I strive to make the world better for all of us.

My books explore historical and fantasy worlds.

High Bridge is a historical novel that reintroduces two compelling, but oft forgotten people – Matilda Joslyn Gage and Grover Cleveland. Although set in the 19th century, their stories remain relevant to the 21st century.

Journey to the land of giants and elves for contemporary, yet timeless fables. The stories are modeled on lessons from Aesop and my parents, confront incivility, and teach children about natural science.

We have a cover!         It’s amazing!

My thoughts, your thoughts:

The internet and imagination provide wonderful opportunities. Author and reader(s) can work together, inform each other, and grow. Stories can help us to better appreciate our current world. They help use learn how we can best embrace our individual and collective futures.

Hopefully, my blog will not be like asking George Berkeley’s question. “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?” I write my blog believing that we are working our way through the forest together.

So, grab an axe, and let’s go!
